Homeowners: Olu & Temi, Nottingham | Theme: Rental-Friendly + Personalised Spaces
The Brief
Olu and Temi share a rented house with two other housemates. Their bedroom is small — barely enough room for a double bed and a wardrobe. But it's their space, and they wanted it to feel like a sanctuary, not a box room.
The Vision
Maximum personality in minimum space, with zero damage to the walls. Layered textiles, a small gallery wall on damage-free strips, and warm lighting to make the room feel cosy rather than cramped.
The Transformation
The bed was dressed with layered cushions and a chunky knit throw in warm terracotta. A small gallery wall of three prints from Nur & Form was hung above the headboard using Command strips — a mix of geometric and abstract designs in warm gold and cream. Fairy lights were draped along the top of the wardrobe for ambient evening light. A wooden crate was repurposed as a bedside table, styled with a candle and a small plant.

The Result
Their room is now the most talked-about in the house. Temi says: "People come in and can't believe it's the same room. We made it ours without spending a fortune or touching the walls permanently."
Tips for You
- In small rooms, go vertical — a tall gallery wall draws the eye up and makes the room feel bigger.
- Layered textiles (cushions, throws, rugs) add warmth without taking up floor space.
- Fairy lights are underrated — they transform the mood of a room for under £10.
